Scholarly Publishers: Discuss Your Open Access Needs with CCC
Recently, there have been many noteworthy announcements regarding Open Access, the expectations of particular funding agencies and the potential impacts to publishers' business models. Below is a list of some Open Access solutions CCC offers through its RightsLink platform; it is not intended to be exhaustive, but rather a starting point for conversations. Your Account Managers will be reaching out to many of you over the coming weeks to see how, together, we can craft a solution that meets your business needs.
Our RightsLink platform can support unique pricing rules, licenses and messaging for your Open Access journals to help ensure compliance with funding agency requirements.
RightsLink offers secure tools for setting and collecting Author Publication Charges (APCs), as well as color charges, page charges and reprint fees. Both authors and publishers have 24/7 access to these tools, which include reporting and customer service.
Pre-publication, RightsLink makes it easy for publishers to charge different Open Access fees based on variables such as author affiliation / membership, funding source and journal type.
Post-publication, RightsLink communicates publisher-specified reuse rights to users seeking reuse permissions for all content including Open Access articles.
All of our channels can capture valuable data about user interest in and reuse of your Open Access publications.
You can add RightsLink to your content wherever it resides online, even in a third-party repository such as HighWire or PubMed Central
You can use RightsLink to support multi-currency transactions for any new business models you develop around a traditional or Open Access offering.
Republication Rights: Are You Granting What You're Requesting?
More than 100 publishers have enrolled in CCC's enhanced Republication License, which offers rightsholders a sophisticated, consistent and flexible model for licensing and acquiring republication rights. These publishers recognize that everyone developing content in today's digital publishing environment needs an automated process to acquire permissions to include third party content in their new works. The enhanced license includes:
Print and electronic rights - available simultaneously in a single transaction.
Rights for a family of products in a single transaction, e.g. rights to republish in the main textbook, the teacher's guide and ancillaries.
Bundles of republication rights, which are broad enough to deliver new works in different formats, languages and territories to meet the needs of content users.
The ability to create Open Access collections of titles and related pricing rules.

Content Solutions to Complement Your Licensing Business
As recently reported in STM Publishing News , more than 100 campuses have signed up for CCC's Get It Now service, which complements an institution's Interlibrary Loan (ILL) borrowing services by delivering digital copies of journal articles in minutes as opposed to days.
Are you interested in offering access to your content through CCC's services? Contact your Account Manager to discuss new channel opportunities.
